Record-breaking marathon

Record number of runners, ideal weather and thousands of supporters on the streets of Warsaw – that is how we can describe 35th PZU Warsaw Marathon.

An all-time high number of 8506 marathon runners reached the finish line situated at one of the most modern stadium in Europe – The National Stadium in Warsaw.
Polish citizen Yared Shegumo won with his time of 2:10:34. Next places on the podium went to: Weldu Negash Gebretsadik (Norway) and Solomon Molla Tiumauy (Ethiopia).
Among women first was Goitetom Haftu Teshema (Ethiopia) who beat the record of 02:31:20 set in 2008 by Polish runner Malgorzata Sobanska. The record was also beaten by Abeba Teklu Gebremeskel (Ethiopia) and Lydia Rutto(Kenya).
